How to check a casino license in 5 steps

A gambling license is verified in the regulator's own register, never on the casino's site. The check takes about two minutes once you know which register to open and what to match. The five steps below work for every jurisdiction, and the register links are collected at the end.

The 5 verification steps

  1. Find the license claim. Scroll to the casino footer. Real operators state the regulator, a license number, and the licensee company. A seal image alone proves nothing, since seals are copied freely.
  2. Identify the jurisdiction. The claim names a regulator such as the MGA, the UKGC, or the Curacao GCB. Our jurisdiction pages describe each authority and link the official register.
  3. Open the official register. Type the register address yourself or use the links below. Never trust a register link on the casino's own site, a fake site can link a fake register.
  4. Search for the licensee company, not the casino brand. Licenses are issued to legal entities. Search the entity from the footer, then confirm the license number and that its status is active.
  5. Match the domain. Most registers list the web domains a permit covers. The exact domain you are playing on must appear there. A licensed company can still run unlicensed sites on other domains.

What if the operator is not in the register

Absence from the register means the license claim failed verification. Sometimes the entry exists under a different entity after a rebrand, so search the license number too. If neither the entity nor the number appears, treat the site as unlicensed in that jurisdiction and check whether it holds a permit somewhere else.
